Happy Hanukkah!

To anyone who celebrates or appreciates it!

I was fascinated to learn that the Hanukkah celebration is in the Bible (John 10:22), and to understand what it is truly about. After all, my spiritual roots are Jewish :-) and learning about it all is quite the adventure!

What significance do you think it plays in our Christian celebration of Christmas?

(I've been studying the other two associated religions with God and am interested to hear your prespective on this question.)

Amy- Nothing whatsoever. Hanukkah is the celebration of the rededication of the temple after the success of the Maccabean revolt in 165 BC. What do you mean by the other "two" associated religions with God? Judaism and...Christianity?

Darcy- We serve a Jewish King! The spring feasts of Israel point to the first coming of Christ, the fall feast point to the second coming! We miss out on a tremendous amount of our spiritual heritage by not knowing our Old Testament and God-given traditions! We are the descendants of Abraham numbered "as the stars in the sky!" (True Jews are numbered as the sand on the shore.) But we are completely different, in our origin, mission, and destiny.
"The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed; the Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed."

Like that quote at the end. Anyways, Judaism and Muslims. How Muslims started from the same base and in effect follow the same God. I know, totally different direction early, on but I find it facinating that we all have the same roots and why we took different directions.

But what do you think about the character of Allah being completely different from YHWH?

I am asking because I do not believe they follow the God of the Bible. The stories of Christians converted from Islam (such as Walid Shoebat) give evidence otherwise.
