VBACs

To Answer a few questions: If we go this route...

We would probably seek to stay there the last week or two, as Gabe says no way to driving while I'm laboring :-) I'm not too worried about the timing, as w/ Melia, my water didn't break until 41 weeks, and w/ Kiera's section at 39 weeks, I wasn't dialated at all. So I seriously doubt I will go early :-)

No inductions. With VBAC's this is a no-no, as it greatly increases the chance of rupture. Plus, I think I would refuse pitocin anyway, considering my last experience. All natural baby!

Visitors? I know. This is what has been less than supportive, but ideally, we will be back in just a few days anyway. And I am not saying you can't come to Spokane ;-) It will be May, after all. No inclement weather to worry about! Plus, now that I have this easy to update blog, you will have pictures!

I think I got them all. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have-- But remember, this is a new road for me too! I may not know it all right away, but hopefully I will have more answers after I visit the other doc later. And please pray. I don't want to be doing this for me. I want to do this to glorify Him, so whether the doors open or close, I want my focus to be right. Thanks so much!

Try not to let the visitor thing get to you. Its about you and your baby. There's no way you can please everyone. Someone will always be offended no matter what you do. and wouldnt you rather visit in the comfort in your own home anyway! :)

Have you checked Todd's blog lately? Get ready for a surprise and a cousin close in age to your next one!

thanks for answering D! We are thinking of something similar, but Seattle is just an hour or so away, so it might not be too risky to plan to drive that far in labor. That is so cool that you found a supportive dr.!

Just stopping by, I have to say, I should have done it a long time ago (wish I had the time lol). I will be praying for you regarding this decision, I know how difficult it is to make, especially when everyone seems to think their opinion is needed lol. I know the worries of the drive to spokane, but trust me, Dr Fine will go over this with you. :D Needless to say, he was not worried, in the least.
On another note...I have heard that each c-section recovery is easier than the one before.
Who is your doctor here?
PS: you know you can come to me with any questions about delivering at holy family or Dr Fine! ;)

PPS: These ladies are way helpful and the only reason I chose Spokane in the first place...even if you just lurk:

I love this blog, I am so glad I stopped by! I wish I would have sooner! (if only I had more time lol)
Anyway, you know I totally understand the worrying about the drive to Spokane, but really, Dr Fine will chat with you about that and needless to say, he really isn't to worried about it.
I will be praying for you guys regarding this decision, I know how hard it is, especially when everyone thinks their opinion is of high-importance lol.
You know I loved my VBAC, but I have also heard that each c-section recovery gets easier...

And you know you can always always always come to me with questions or worries regarding this! Been there, done that mama. :)

PS: Who is your doctor here?

PPS: Join us over on the yahoo ICAN group, even if its just to lurk. They are the ones that led me to Dr Fine in the first place. :)

Roxanne, it is good to hear from you! Thank you for your comments :-)
FYI, Rachael, who comments here with the cute pic (!) is also looking for VBAC options-- is there a ICAN group for the Seattle area?
And my Dr here is Dr Pitts, who has all along been very understanding with my situations.

Oh, I have heard good things about Dr Pitts and also Dr Cahill, regarding how they would support VBACs, but cannot. :(
And, I don't want to get your hopes up too much...Dr Fine or Brasch will go over your c-section reports, chat with you about your labor and c-sections, and figure out if he thinks it is safe (which is good, right?!) for you to go ahead and try for a VBAC. So after talking with him, he, or you may decide not to after all. Its a case-by-case kind of thing, which is how it should be.

Seattle, there a so many VBAC options over there! I am just comfortable in Spokane a)my siblings live there so it was easy to stay the night, and b) Dr Fine is an incredible Christian man...which makes a difference to me. Being able to pray with the doctor who is taking care of you as you are pushing out a baby or going into surgery is amazing.

Sorry, serial posting lol...

Regarding Seattle; It seems that Evergreen or Group Health are the best bets as far as birthing in a hospital go for VBAC success. I'd stay away from Overlake, I have heard not very good things about them. UW & Swedish, while they give excellent care, are not the place to go if you want a VBAC, tho there are women who have had successful VBACs at both places. Both have very high c/s rates, and I think that colors their view of VBAC and how "tolerant" they will be of variations in your labor before pushing you into another c/s. JMO, tho.
I think this is the Seattle ICAN:
